This week’s Thursday Night Football matchup seemed good on paper but wasn’t all that interesting to watch. The Miami Dolphins were clearly better than the Jacksonville Jaguars throughout the game. Gardner Minshew was flat after two strong showings. That’s probably because Ryan Fitzpatrick had all the magic on this night.
In terms of fantasy football, it wasn’t a great game unless you were crazy enough to play Fitzpatrick. Only James Robinson had a truly good week, but we’ve still found some fantasy football takeaways from the Dolphins vs Jaguars.

Fantasy football takeaways from the Dolphins vs Jaguars
James Robinson may be a top-20 RB in 2020
After rushing for more than 100 yards against the Titans in week 2, James Robinson followed it up with two touchdowns and nearly 130 total yards. He showed some pass catching ability against the Dolphins, something we hadn’t seen up to this point.
If we are being honest, Robinson doesn’t pass the eye test in any way, shape or form. He looks slow and his agility leaves a lot to be desired. However, volume is the name of the game in fantasy football this season and he is getting a lot of work.
Jordan Howard caps Myles Gaskin’s true value
In many ways, Myles Gaskin and James Robinson are mirror images of each other. Not particularly gifted running backs who get the bulk of the work. The main difference is that Robinson stays in the game for touches inside the five-yard line and Gaskin is immediately pulled for Jordan Howard.
Howard had another short-yardage score, his third in three weeks. This trend is not only worrying, but shows no signs of abating. Gaskin looks like a solid, albeit limited, weekly play.
Avoid Jacksonville pass catchers not named Chark
Minshew will have big weeks this season, but the passing game has a ton of volatility from week-to-week that makes it unsuitable for fantasy football. Even without DJ Chark, no wide receiver stepped up in his place. Keelan Cole is the best option. That being said, his weekly ceiling seems to be six catches and 60 yards.
