Kenyan Drake fantasy football players drop now
The Las Vegas Raiders 3rd string running back is probably not a worthwhile hold in fantasy football

There is nothing more annoying than a sunk cost. We all understand the principle, but it still sucks having to cut bait on something you’ve invested in. Of course, not doing so can hurt you worse in the long run. So, while you may be hoping for a turnaround, there are plenty of fantasy football players you can drop today without thinking twice about.

Yes, you spent draft capital, FAAB budgets or even other assets to acquire these guys. But keeping them on your roster will only drag it down, especially if you started the season slowly.

It’s one thing for a 3-0 team to hold on to underperformers hoping for a change in fortune. But a side that is 0-3 or even 1-2 doesn’t have that luxury. There are any number of fantasy football players you should drop now, but here are the four we recommend.

4 fantasy football players you can drop right now

Kenyan Drake – Las Vegas Raiders

Kenyan Drake went from highly paid backup running back to being the guy in Las Vegas to getting replaced by Peyton Barber in a span for three weeks. Look, the former Dolphin had his chance and lost it. Josh Jacobs will return soon which only serves to depress Drake’s value even further. Drop him now and, as the other Drake would say, thank me later.

Ryan Tannehill – Tennessee Titans

It was surprising to learn that Ryan Tannehill is owned in 86 percent of Yahoo leagues at the moment despite being QB16. A lot of managers are holding on to him as a backup. Some experts hate rostering two quarterbacks in non-superflex leagues. I don’t necessarily agree with that sentiment on the whole.

However, keeping Tannehill as your bench quarterback seemingly makes little sense when the likes of Sam Darnold, Taylor Heinicke and Jameis Winston can all be off waivers in most leagues at any given moment.

Robert Tonyan – Green Bay Packers

Will Robert Tonyan randomly pop up with a multi-touchdown game for the Green Bay Packers this season? Sure. But unless you know when that is, he is going to kill your team most week. With only six total receptions and two games with under ten yards, the floor is absolute zero. Tonyan is TE25 in half-point PPR and isn’t even an appealing dart throw at the moment. Let him sink someone else’s roster.

Laviska Shenault Jr. – Jacksonville Jaguars

(Editor’s note: D.J. Chark’s injury means you should completely ignore this.)

This preseason darling has been unable to get anything going once the games started to matter. This isn’t really the fault of Laviska Shenault Jr. Urban Meyer’s offense has been questionable at best and he doesn’t understand how to use the former Colorado Buffalo wide receiver. Realistically speaking, you aren’t ever starting him and there are players on the waiver wire with far more upside.
