The Touchback’s college football betting picks for week 4

Auburn (+7.5) vs Kentucky (-105)

This pick isn’t a knock on Kentucky who are a solid, well-coached team. Mark Stoops has done a great job with the Wildcats during the past two seasons. However, Auburn only lost three times last season and those came against teams ranked in the top-10. They also managed to beat three ranked opponents, Oregon, Alabama and Texas A&M, in 2019 and still gave a lot of talent. The Tigers should win this one going away if they fancy themselves as College Football Playoff contenders.

FIU (+240) vs Liberty

FIU are getting 7.5 points in this game, which is the safer bet, but there is better value here in taking them outright. This line seems to be less about talent and more about the situation which is important to recognize. Liberty played last week while FIU has seen two home openers canceled already. That being said, these are two evenly matched teams and when that happens, you have to take the underdog.

Mississippi State (+17) vs. LSU (-115)

The Bulldogs at +500 to win outright is super interesting. But this is a parlay and it makes sense to hedge here. As great as LSU was last season, this is not even close to being the same team in 2020. Meanwhile, Mike Leach is taking the helm at Mississippi State and inherits a team with enough talent to keep things close.

West Virginia (+205) vs. Oklahoma State

It has been reported that Oklahoma State quarterback Spencer Sanders has a high ankle sprain which may keep him out of this game. The Cowboys’ offense was a mess last week against Tulsa once he was ruled out. Even if Sanders can suit up, his mobility will be limited making it easier for the Mountaineers. Given the situation, you have to like West Virginia outright in this spot.

College football betting picks for week 4 – Parlay total: $10 to win $368.52

There is a lot more risk in this week’s parlay, but the payoff is well worth it. Obviously, FIU is an unknown here and maybe LSU is better or Mississippi State is worse than expected. But this shakes out as a fun wager for Saturday.
