NFL win-total bets in 2021
We like the over for one of these teams and the under for the other one

We first took a look at NFL win-total bets for the 2021 season after the lines were posted in April (you can read about it here). A lot has changed since then. Most notably, the NFL Draft is in the books and Julio Jones was traded to the Tennessee Titans.

NFL win-total bets for 2021 that haven’t changed

Carolina Panthers over 7.5 wins (+110)

There has been no movement here which isn’t surprising. Most experts believe the Carolina Panthers had an okay-ish draft that didn’t make them wildly better or significantly worse. However, their chances to hit the over received a small bump with Julio Jones leaving the NFC South. We still like this bet.

NFL win-total bets for 2021 that have changed

Pittsburgh Steelers from under 9 wins (-125) to under 8.5 wins (-115)

Losing that half game does take a bit of luster off this wager. However, it’s not all bad news. The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t exactly ace the draft taking a running back and tight end with their first picks when the offensive line was a major need. Given Mike Tomlin’s ability to keep the team around .500, the revised line makes us wary. This is one we’re avoiding.

Washington Football Team from over 8 wins (-105) to over 8.5 wins (+100)

Washington Football Team saw oddsmakers add a half game to their win total which felt extremely low at eight. Unlike the Steelers, this bet is still an easy yes given how much WFT improved in the offseason.

Houston Texans from under 5 wins (-130) to under 4 wins (+105)

The Houston Texans are a bad team that had a terrible draft and saw their projected win total move from five to four. That being said, it’s still really hard to see how they get to four wins even with the extra game in 2021. With the margin for error being so tiny, passing on the wager is understandable, but we remain all in on the Texans being crap.

Other interesting NFL win-total bets for 2021

Jacksonville Jaguars under 6.5 wins (-110)

A rookie quarterback and a college head coach adjusting to the NFL? Year one of the Trevor Lawrence and Urban Meyer experiment will probably be a rough for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Take the under.

Los Angeles Chargers over 9.5 wins (+110)

The Los Angeles Chargers had a great draft and were a seven-win side despite basically everyone being hurt last season. LA’s other team also has a friendly schedule with games against the Texans, Bengals and NFC East in 2021. They aren’t good enough to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West, but the Chargers should be in the hunt for a playoff spot. Go over here.
