Before the start of the 2021 college football and NFL seasons, we made several win-total bets. Since it is almost the halfway point in the pro game and we’ve passed that mark at the NCAA level, which means it’s a great time to see where those wagers stand (NFL Part 1/NFL Part 2/College Football).
While a lot can happen between now and the end of the season, we have a pretty good idea of the 2021 college football and NFL win-total bets that will hit, and which ones aren’t worth the ticket they’re printed on.

Updating our 2021 college football and NFL win-total bets
NFL bets looking good
- Carolina Panthers over 7.5 wins (+110)
- Houston Texans under 5 wins (-130)
- Jacksonville Jaguars under 6.5 wins (-110)
The Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars look like slam dunks to hide those unders at this point. The Carolina Panthers have been all over the map this season, winning their first three before losing their next four games.
However, the fightin’ Sam Darnold’s are getting Christian McCaffrey back which should help. Their schedule is a mixed bag with clashes against Washington, Miami and Atlanta offset by a brutal closing stretch featuring Buffalo, Tampa Bay twice and New Orleans. The Panthers should be able to finish 4-5 and allow us to cash in.
NFL bets in trouble or already lost
- Washington Football Team over 8 wins (-105)
- Pittsburgh Steelers under 9 wins (-125)
- Los Angeles Chargers over 9.5 wins (+110)
Washington went into the year with high hopes, an elite defense and Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback. Neither has been around this season which tanked that bet. The Steelers are 4-3, although they have looked pretty bad. There is a chance they finish 8-9 but the team could also make the playoffs. Los Angeles would need to end the year 6-4 to reach 10 wins. It’s doable but far from a lock.
College football bets looking good
- Ole Miss over 7.5 wins (-110)
- Nebraska under 6 wins (+100)
Ole Miss needs to finish 2-2 to reach eight wins. The schedule shapes up nicely for them with home games against Liberty, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M on the docket before an Egg Bowl clash in Starkville. Nebraska needs to go 3-0 to end the season if they’re going to reach the six-win mark. Yeah, we’re not worried about the Cornhuskers beating Ohio State, Wisconsin and Iowa to become bowl eligible.
College football bets in trouble or already lost
- Stanford over 4 wins (-110)
- Miami over 9.5 wins (+125)
Stanford may not hit the over, but one more victory gives us the push which is fine. That being said, three of their next four games are very winnable. Meanwhile, our bullish expectations for Miami were clearly misplaced.
