Look, there are lots of reasons you shouldn’t bet on the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl at +1200. For starters, they don’t pass the eye test. Patrick Mahomes has morphed into Alex Smith, the entire offense looks disinterested and the defense has been unable to stop a competent offense through nine games. (Odds via Fanduel Sportsbook).

This doesn’t even factor in the struggle Kansas City has to even make the playoffs. There are 11 teams currently above .500 with only seven available spots. There is a real possibility they could finish 10-7 and miss out.

But let’s not pretend the other AFC contenders are blowing anyone away. The Buffalo Bills just lost to the freaking Jaguars while the Ravens were dropped by the Dolphins. Tennessee is 7-2, but is that defense really good enough to keep it together in the postseason? That’s not a bet I want to make.

Which brings us back to Andy Reid and friends. As underwhelming as the Chiefs have been in 2021, this isn’t the end of the world. Some hiccups were to be expected with an entirely new offensive line taking the field.

Now, no one following the NFL expected the growing pains to be this significant. Their turnover issues also defy logic. However, these are both easily fixable in season. It is not like Kansas City is trying to replace Derrick Henry here. The coaching staff can turn the ship around.

Should you bet on Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl at +1200?

As bad as the Chiefs have been this season, it is impossible to pass on them to win the Super Bowl at +1200. This is the football betting equivalent of buying the dip. Get it now because it won’t be around forever.

Perhaps the most relevant example is the 2015 Seattle Seahawks who started the season 4-5 after winning the Super Bowl in 2013 and losing the big game in 2014. They managed to overcome their bad start by going 6-1 and coasting into the playoffs.

As you are probably aware of, they didn’t make it back to the title game that year, but it does show Kansas City can easily turn it around. And once they’re in the playoffs, you will be kicking yourself for not jumping on them at these odds.
