It will take a lot for any UDFAs to have a fantasy football impact in 2022. However, it’s not impossible or unheard of. Phillip Lindsay is the most well-known example. But there are several others who went from being undrafted to fantasy lineups in their rookie campaigns.
Dominic Rhodes was a find for the Indianapolis Colts in 2001 while Marlon Brown came out of nowhere to catch seven touchdowns in 2013. Arian Foster had a huge final two games for the Houston Texans in the 2009 season. Gus Edwards finished 2018 as the Ravens starting running back and didn’t rush for less than 67 yards over the team’s last seven contests.
That being said, most UDFAs won’t have a fantasy football impact in 2022. In fact, the majority aren’t going to find themselves on a roster by the time the season starts. However, here are two players who just may score some points if everything falls the right way.

2 UDFAs who could have a fantasy football impact in 2022
Max Borghi – Indianapolis Colts
Pop quiz: Who is Jonathan Taylor’s backup? It’s not Nyheim Hines who has an entirely different role in the Colts offense. Marlon Mack is in Houston and Jordan Wilkins was cut. Technically, it would be Deon Jackson who posted a paltry 2.4 yards per carry on limited touches in 2021.
Enter Washington State do it all running back Max Borghi who flashed with the Cougars under Mike Leach. Unfortunately, the pirate-loving head coach left for Mississippi State after the 2019 season and Borghi’s numbers dipped. That wasn’t all his fault. Things were kind of a mess in Pullman the past two seasons.
As you can see above, his highlights are some of the best you’ll find in college football and not being taken in the NFL Draft has provided him with extra motivation. Assuming Borghi uses that to secure the Colts backup running back job, he’s a Taylor injury from seeing the field.

Britain Covey – Philadelphia Eagles
Britain Covey could make the Eagles roster as a return specialist but don’t sleep on him taking over at slot receiver sometime this season. And it’s not just because he looks like the reincarnation of Wes Welker. He led Utah in receptions last year and is elusive with the ball in his hands.
Philadelphia traded for A.J. Brown who will lineup up across from DeVonta Smith at wide receiver. Zach Pascal is likely to start the season in the slot but hasn’t exactly lit up the NFL over the course of four seasons. Beyond that are a bunch of guys who have failed to produce. He’s theoretically closer to playing time than most other UDFAs if he sticks.
