Drew Brees is a bad Christian. And for that, his destination is most likely hell. Firstly, this has nothing to do with the quarterback’s dance with an uber-conservative Christian group almost three years ago. That was a lousy look. But it’s not our focus today.

It was stunning to see Jesus-loving, bible-thumping Brees pimping PointsBet and urging others to live “their bet life” months ago when those commercials first started airing. Now, every time he quotes the New Testament on Twitter or talks about the importance of faith, it feels so disingenuous.

Let’s make something clear to the former New Orleans Saints passer. Gambling is a form of greed which is one of those pesky original sins. Not only that, but the quarterback owns a stake in PointsBet. Holy hell, it doesn’t get any greedier than profiting from the greed of others who have less than you.

Facts are facts and Drew Brees is a bad Christian. Have a nice time in hell throwing fades to Aaron Hernandez and getting pep talks from Jerry Sandusky. Hopefully, the temporal things you enjoy today were worth an eternity of damnation.

Drew Brees is a bad Christian and self-created hypocrisy

Drew Brees is a bad Christian
What is happening with these tweets?

Here’s the problem with your ultra-religious Christians who don’t really understand the teachings of Jesus and the bible. They end up creating these narrow boxes that make it near impossible to not go against the religion. It is self-created hypocrisy.

Don’t believe me? Try getting one of those Christian MAGA lovers to explain how Donald Trump is somehow a man of faith. These are people who want to ban premarital sex but also think it’s cool for a known adulterer who can’t quote a single bible passage to lead them. Get out of here with that noise.

Back to Drew Brees being a bad Christian. The US government allowing sports betting doesn’t absolve it from being a sin. If abortion is legal and still a sin according to religious logic, then the same thing goes for betting. While the bible doesn’t outright say gambling is bad, chasing money is frowned upon.

First Timothy 6:10: “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

Hebrews 13:5: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’”

Matthew 6:24: “No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”

That last verse is fairly damming for Brees who appears to be trying to serve both god and money. There is nothing more ridiculous than him prattling on about god in one tweet and then urging others to bet in another.

It would be one thing for the now former NBC broadcaster to hold and practice his beliefs in private. There is no shame in humbly admitting that in today’s complicated world, you are unsure of how the teachings of Jesus Christ fit into today and practicing away from the public eye. In fact, it would actually be quite humble, a positive trait the bible mentions seemingly all the freaking time.

Instead, Brees rams his faith down our throats while clearly not even practicing what he preaches. However, pride is another original sin. And the way he struts around flaunting his religion is one of the biggest examples of hubris you’ll ever see. Especially considering his questionable understanding and application of Christian values.
