Who is Leonard Fournette’s handcuff? One of the stories of the offseason was the weight of Fournette who ballooned up to 260 pounds ahead of minicamp, allegedly. It appears the running back is now closer to his playing size, but these concerns are not completely alleviated. Just look at what happened to Eddie Lacy after he packed on the lbs. His career was never the same.
Anyway, Leonard Fournette’s handcuff is Rachaad White who the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He led Arizona State in both rushing and receiving yards last season. Importantly, the Bucs coaching staff seems to be very high on him.
Behind White is Ke’Shawn Vaughn who hasn’t shown much in two seasons with the team. He would likely see some action should either of the running backs ahead of him get hurt this season but doesn’t look like a viable fantasy football asset.
Giovani Bernard is also still around but could be on the roster bubble given how much both Fournette and White bring to the team as a receiver.

Is Leonard Fournette’s handcuff worth stashing?
Leonard Fournette’s handcuff is worth stashing. In fact, White may even have standalone value as a potential flex in PPR formats given his skill set. The Tampa Bay coaching staff seems confident in his ability to carry the load.
They have seemingly gone all in on White as Fournette’s backup. That means he would see close to a full workload should something happen to the former Jacksonville Jaguars rusher. Neither Vaughn nor Bernard offer much competition.
Given the numbers Fournette put up in 2021, that is an extremely lucrative potential role. White is likely to be among the better handcuffs available this season and is definitely worth having on your roster.
