Nearly 20 years after Freak-a-Leek first hit the airwaves, one of my favorite things to still do is mimic Petey Pablo and sing out Shameka, Keisha, Tara and then make up other names. The song and music video are so simple and yet remain entertaining to this day.
Let’s be real, all we see is some hot women dancing and Petey Pablo saying Shameka, Keisha, Tara and other names several times. But much like the Young Jeezy Who Dat video, the simplicity works. It is still very fun to watch.
The thing about Freak-a-Leek is that it’s a song you wouldn’t really ever seek out. However, if the tune started playing from somewhere, you won’t turn it off.

Song: Freak-a-Leek
Artist: Petey Pablo
Year: 2003
Quote it:
I need a girl that I can freak wit,
and wanna try shit, and ain’t scared of a big dick.
And love to get her pussy licked,
by another bitch, cus I ain’t drunk enough to do that.
Best Video Moment: Petey Pablo not wearing headphones while taking a call at the radio station
That Freak-a-Leek intro
The Freak-a-Leek music video starts with Petey Pablo working as a DJ at a local radio station. He’s even answering the request line. However, he does so without headphones. Anyone who has ever spent any amount of time in radio knows that is impossible. This is also known as the WKRP in Cincinnati rule.
Also, this detail is not unknown to the director because a pair is actually sitting on the desk he’s posted up at. Things somehow get more ridiculous because a little later in the music video, Petey Pablo is wearing the headphones. What?!?!? He has them on while ogling a woman outside the station, but not when he’s on air.

Petey Pablo names Shameka, Keisha, Tara and…
The names of women Petey Pablo says during Freak-a-Leek are a source of contention to this day. For example, some lyrics websites have Tara while others say Zahra. It was a mystery back then and remains one nearly two decades later.
And if we are all being honest, any name we sing after DaRhonda is probably not in the song. Hell, I’m not even sure Petey Pablo knows. He could just make it up when performing. I don’t think anyone would notice.
