The Touchback’s way too early NFL week 1 parlay

Game 1

Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons

The pick: Panthers to cover +2.5 (+100)

Two teams that finished 7-10 in 2022 and head into 2023 with plenty of question marks. At this point, it looks like Bryce Young will be starting for the Panthers while Desmond Ridder will be QB1 for Atlanta. Rookie quarterbacks historically struggle and Young will be no different. Meanwhile, Ridder started four contests last year and the only time he had success moving the ball came in a game where Tampa Bay was playing its backups.

This has all the makings of a scrappy, low-scoring affair making a Panthers’ cover the most logical choice.

Game 2

San Francisco 49ers at Pittsburgh Steelers

The pick: Pittsburgh to win (+130)

Historically speaking, week 1 always throws up some random results. Look no further than the Bears beating San Francisco last season. However, there is more to picking the Steelers here. Namely, no one knows who will open the season as starting quarterback for the 49ers. Even if it happens to be Brock Purdy, is he really as good as the media made him out to be?

Game 3

Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Chargers

The pick: Chargers to win (+115)

This exact matchup happened last season with the LA Chargers winning a surprisingly low-scoring encounter 23-17. The game is probably best remembered for Tyreek Hill’s crazy fumble recovery touchdown.

If we are being honest, this is a fairly even matchup on paper and you could make a case for both teams. Given the odds for the Miami Dolphins, it makes sense to grab them here.

The payoff

Our NFL way too early NFL week 1 parlay features odds of +889. That means if you bet $10, you would win $88.90. Not a bad way to start the football season.
