There is nothing worse than the payoff that comes with betting on favorites. I have no desire to bet more than $10 on anything and winning anything less than $10 doesn’t move the needle. That’s why we are looking at the best NBA underdog bets for 8/7.
And we aren’t just blindly flailing in the dark here. We are 4-2 in our NBA underdog bets since play resumed. We nailed the Indiana Pacers (+188), Raptors (+149), Utah Jazz (+120) and Portland Trailblazers -4 (+131). Of course, we were wrong about the Washington Wizards (+233), Pelicans and LA Clippers total points over 230 (+130).
Betting $10 on all those games means we’re holding $38.80 ($58.80 in winnings – $20 for the two losses). We will take the $40 used on placing those best out of the equation entirely.
With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the best NBA underdog bets for 8/7. All these bets are +120 or better.

Orlando Magic (+150) vs. Philadelphia 76ers
This one is super easy. The Philadelphia 76ers are on the second end of a back-to-back and just saw Ben Simmons go down with a knee injury. While the Magic aren’t great, they are in a much better situation here than the odds would indicate. Let’s also not forget that the Magic are 2-0 against the 76ers this season.
They be without Aaron Gordon who will sit due to a bad hamstring. That’s a concern. However, Philadelphia will be forced to play with Joel Embiid and Al Horford, a combination that hasn’t really worked against any team they have played this season.
Brooklyn Nets (+140) vs. Sacramento Kings
A similar story here with the Sacramento Kings playing on the second night of a back-to-back against a rested Brooklyn team. The Nets have a better record than the Kings who are all about eliminated in the Western Conference playoff race. If anything, this game should be a pick’em, but it’s not.
Boston Celtics (+125) vs. Toronto Raptors
The odds on this game vary with it possible to get +140 on the Celtics in some places. Unlike our first two NBA underdog bets, both of these teams come into the game having not played on Thursday. There really isn’t a lot separating Boston and Toronto which is why you should take the former at a better payout. The Celtics lead the season series 2-1.

These three bets all feature underdogs that either have a distinct advantage heading into the matchup or, in the case of the Celtics, are nearly as good as the team they are facing. There isn’t a weak link here in terms of bets making it an intriguing parlay as well.
