Could Michigan Save The Pac-12? It sounds weird but just may be true. Powerbrokers at the school have already held discussions about leaving the Big 10 which have sent alarm bells ringing across the college football landscape.
Of course, the likelihood of this happening is low. But it’s not zero. Michigan is very unhappy, and all bets are off at this point. The Wolverines would aim for the SEC, but the fit isn’t there. The best option is to reform the Pac-12 while weakening the ACC.
If Michigan were to leave the Big 10, those four Pac-12 schools set to join the conference would need to think long and hard about their impending moves. It could trigger a domino effect that would lead to programs like Clemson, Miami and Florida State finally finding a new home as well.
Look, there would be a ton of lawsuits and wasted money on getting this to work. However, this is college football we are talking about here. As crazy as it sounds, Michigan might be the one who saves the Pac-12.
