Dodger Stadium Terrace Level review: A lot of hype

Dodger Stadium Terrace Level review
Dodger Stadium is okay for what it is but nothing special

We should begin our Dodger Stadium Terrace Level review with why a person may want to sit here. This is the only shaded part of the facility during day games. You will be blasted by the sun everywhere else. That’s fine if you’re working on a tan but not so great for the rest of us.

It must also be noted that we did not pay for these seats and just sat down here before the first pitch. Your luck doing this may vary as ushers at Dodger Stadium differ wildly in terms of their job performance. Some will triple-check tickets and ask for personal information as if this were the airport. Others appear to be in an eyes-open, comatose state letting anyone through.

Beyond that, there isn’t much to the Terrace Level. Night games can be enjoyed from either the upper deck or field level which are just as good. There is nothing special about this ring of seating apart from the fact it is covered.

Once you finally reach your seat, or the seat you are trying to sneak into, a stark reality will soon dawn upon you. Dodger Stadium is simply a very okay place to watch baseball. Many fans claim this to be one of the sport’s hallowed grounds. That is nothing but a mix of hype and fantasy.

This place is old and plain. The only differences between the Oakland Coliseum and Dodger Stadium are Mount Davis and a lot of upkeep. Beyond that, there isn’t much that separates the two.

Look, it is a perfectly fine place to watch an MLB game from. The seating is okay. The views are okay. There isn’t anything to dislike inside. However, calling this one of the sport’s cathedrals is a bit much. Just because a place is old doesn’t make it good.

I could easily name ten, maybe even 15, other stadiums that are better. Having been to Dodger Stadium multiple times over the past 20 years, I have never left impressed or with a desire to return. Especially considering how uncool Los Angeles Dodgers fans are.

The concourses around Dodger Stadium are easy to navigate and you will find a pretty good selection of food and drink options on offer. There is a larger team store on site as well as a few kiosks selling gear should you be in need of a souvenir.

You can find $20 parking around the stadium, although these lots are located at the bottom of the hill it is situated upon. The walk takes roughly 10-15 minutes but there is an incline. More expensive spaces are available close to the entrance.

We can’t close our Dodger Stadium Terrace Level review without talking about the traffic. It sucks. You have probably heard horror stories and they are all true. This is the dumbest place for a sports venue. It takes forever to get in or out because the streets are simply too small to handle this many cars.

You want to be in the shade during day games

Dodger Stadium is more hype than anything else. It’s good. There is history here. But these can’t hide what is a very vanilla venue. There is no wow factor or anything genuinely notable about this place.

Also, day games suck now because those 80-degree Los Angeles afternoons are now in the 90s. Seriously, it is not worth attending if you can’t get a spot in the shade. Thanks, global warming.
