After exploring the worst free throw shooters in the NBA, lets switch gears and check out a few moments of great basketball shooting. We’re talking about guys draining hundreds and even thousands of shots consecutively.
There is a catch, however. None of these shots counted since they didn’t happen during games. As Allen Iverson is fond of saying, “We’re talkin’ bout practice.”
In the grand scheme of things, these made baskets and this trick shot, which may have not even gone in, counted for the same amount of points. Zero. That doesn’t make them any less impressive.
No jumper, no problem: Meet the incredible non-jump shooting player
Curry makes 105 3-pointers in a row
The above video of Steph Curry making 105 3-pointers in a row doesn’t look real. He unconsciously knocks down corner three after corner three; the man is inhuman. At least we know he can do it during a real game.
Al Callejas gives it the old college try
Equally as impressive, Al Callejas attempted the same record from college distance, and made an absurd 268 consecutive 3-pointers. This is extremely impressive by any metric. However, he is still the second most famous shooter from Scranton.
Tom Amberry makes 2,750 consecutive free throws

When it comes to free throws, Karl Malone may have made the most of all time (9,787), and Michael Williams may have made the most consecutively (97) in game. But it is Tom Amberry who holds the Guinness World Record.
There is no full video of him sinking 2,750 freebies, but other videos clearly show that Tom can knock down free throws with ease.
During the record breaking event, he didn’t stop shooting because he missed, but because the gym was closing down for the night. He claims that he could have made a lot more.
Amberry died in 2017. In addition to being a free throw maestro, he was a highly respected shooting coach and even appeared on Letterman to knock down a few.
Great basketball shooting? Ted St. Martin hits 5,221 consecutive free throws

This record feels impossible, but may have actually happened. Ted St. Martin once made 5,221 consecutive made free throws.

In one of his few online videos, he is shooting on the most forgiving rim of all time, in khakis, on a grass court, from what looks to be a full step in front of where the free throw line should be.
It is possible St. Martin did achieve the record as he was a great shooter. He not only became good friends with some NBA players during his career, but also had an objectively cool van.
