The InterContinental Hua Hin is pretty freaking sweet

Location: Hua Hin Thailand

What’s tolerable:
  1. Super private
  2. Authentic design
  3. All the restaurants
On the downside:
  1. Small beach
  2. You will get bitten by mosquitos

Let’s start with the simple fact you’ll probably never want to leave your room at InterContinental Hua Hin. The accommodations are amazing. The pillows and bedding; bathtub; and private outdoor space are exceptional. The internet is fast. There are even good television channels. It’s awesome.

My wife and I stayed on the first floor of the Beach Wing where we had veranda covered by greenery to ensure total privacy. The rooms on the upper level have sea view balconies. However, the Hua Hin beach isn’t much to look at so we didn’t really mind.

InterContinental Hua Hin has all the bells and whistles you’d expect from a 5-star resort including an actual gym. It isn’t a huge space, but there is everything you need for a property workout. More importantly, it won’t feel cramped if other people show up.

Spa InterContinental Hua Hin
Spa InterContinental is the place to go

There is a large swimming pool and a bunch of other stuff, but we headed to Spa InterContinental for some rest and relaxation. Treatment prices are in line with other five-star resorts, but the quality of Spa InterContinental is well worth what you pay for.

Breakfast is everything you’d expect from a world-class resort like InterContinental Hua Hin. You have freshly baked pastries, authentic Thai food and traditional favorites all in one place. I wish I could eat like this every morning. The other dining outlets are all quite nice. There is also some jazz bar thing if you’re into that kind of stuff.

Finally, the staff is great at what they do and everyone speaks enough English to answer your questions. You won’t always find this at 5-star hotels in Thailand, so it deserves a mention.

But is it any good?

InterContinental Hua Hin rooms
Inside the rooms at InterContinental Hua Hin

For sure. I mean you would be hard pressed to find a bad InterContinental hotel, but this one is great. The amenities are impressive, the rooms are spacious, the staff is friendly and you can’t beat the location. The only negative in this entire InterContinental Hua Hin review is the fact you can’t really blame the hotel for that since they are everywhere in Thailand.

Tip: The BluPort wing of the hotel is located across the street from the main buildings. These rooms are bigger and new but will require you to walk across a skybridge to get to the restaurants and what not.
