Music Video Review: The Fiesta (Remix) music video isn’t as good as the song

The Fiesta (Remix) music video
After the original is probably this, but this music video isn't very interesting

The Fiesta (Remix) music video isn’t nearly as good as the song. The video isn’t bad. But it’s completely unmemorable. That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when you think about it. Not only is this a great track, but you also have Jay-Z and R. Kelly in their prime. These two were churning out some awesome videos around this time.

And yet everyone in the video bar Dame Dash appear as if they would rather be anywhere else in the world. Seriously, Jay-Z and R. Kelly look like they are seven-hours deep in a shift at Starbucks. Why does everyone look so serious for a party anthem?

That ultimately drags the Fiesta (Remix) music video down. Nothing happens and no one wants to be there. It’s a shame that such an awesome song as a terrible video.

The Fiesta (Remix) music video is four-and-a-half minutes long and literally nothing happens during it. I’ve watched this thing a hundred times and still can’t find any highlights or memorable moments. It’s really hard for a rap video to be this bland, but R. Kelly somehow made it happen.

But what really annoys me about the Fiesta (Remix) music video is at the end. The entire video is shot at night and then randomly we get a few shots of women frolicking in the ocean during the day. Come on, there had to have been some other usable B-roll footage somewhere. It totally ruins the continuity of things.

Boo & Gotti get some love in the Fiesta (Remix) music video

Boo & Gotti kind of randomly showed up in 2000, made a few high-profile appearances and then vanished. In many ways, they were kind of the perfect guys to throw on a random track. They are solid rappers, but there were not strong enough to put out their own song let alone an entire album. Their verse here is proof of that. It was good, but no one left saying, “I want to listen to more Boo and Gotti.”
