New York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney raps as the Yung Joka and his music is awesome. But before we talk about his rap career, we have to discuss his breakout game:

Kadarius Toney will be a superstar

Things may have started slowly for Giants first-round pass catcher Kadarius Toney, but his NFL career is finally taking off.

After three games of low snap-counts and minimal targets, Toney finally made his mark on the league. Against New Orleans, the part-time rapper had 79 total yards on nine targets and even dropped back to pass at one point.

Toney’s movement in space and ability to get open looks elite. His quickness appears almost unprecedented. But before we discuss Kadarius Toney’s rap career, let’s highlight two excellent moments from this performance.

Toney will be a superstar moment #1:

Picking up a 3rd-and-18 on a short screen pass happens very rarely; Toney did it in his fourth game. He is the first Giants rookie to do this in 27 years.

Toney will be a superstar moment #2:

There are two minutes left in the game. It’s second down and the New York Giants need 50 yards for a chance to tie the game. In this critical moment, Toney identifies a mismatch, notifies Jones, gets the pass he wants and converts.

Maybe you will see a savvy veteran wide receiver signal an audible in crunch-time. But have you ever seen a rookie do it in his first meaningful game?

If this guy is available in your fantasy football league, pick him up now. Not only will you win your league, but your victories will feature a badass soundtrack.

Let’s explore the wide receiver’s criminally under-appreciated rap career. Kadarious Toney aka Yung Joka needs a breakdown.

Firstly, how under-appreciated is he?

His Youtube account has 1,340 subscribers.

His Soundcloud account has 365 followers.

He has 1,548 monthly listens on Spotify.

These are the kind of social media numbers you expect from your local rapper handing out mixtapes at the bus station, not an NFL first round draft pick. It defies logic.

Kadarius Toney aka Yung Joka’s rap music isn’t the typical over-produced pop-rap that you usually hear from athletes like Kobe or Le’Veon Bell. The former Florida Gator is clearly involved in the entire writing and production process, and while the sound may come off as less ‘technically professional’ at times, it has a lot more character and uniqueness.

Like his game on the field, Toney’s music stands out amongst the crowd.

His music videos have a similar vibe. The focus is on the music and flow, not catchy hooks (he doesn’t bother with these at all), scantily-clad ladies or riches. This is refreshing. The wimpy scouts that saw his music as a red flag clearly misunderstood Yung Joka’s passion.

Yung Joka’s first five albums are compiled below and hopefully there are more to come!
