The emergence of Quintez Cephus and his fantasy football relevance is near. Look at that feature image again! The man is jumping out of the gym!
Quintez Cephus will succeed this year for three reasons. He has incredible burst speed, he has shown he can do it before, and he has little competition for targets.
Fantasy Football Archives: Detroit Lions WRs Golden Tate and Marvin Jones had a very odd 2017 season
He gets open with burst
Cephus has a knack for getting open and showed it throughout college. He uses his tremendous burst speed (82nd percentile) to free himself from coverage.
Unfortunately, his embarrassingly low top-speed (12th percentile) means he is unlikely to break anything for field-flipping yardage.
He also plays with incredible strength, as indicated by his WR-leading benchpress showcase during the combine.
He has little competition for targets
Aside from emerging tight end T.J. Hockenson who should lead the team, Quintez Cephus has little other competition for targets.
Tyrell Williams hasn’t been fantasy relevant since 2016 (126 REC in his last 4 seasons combined). He was really only even rosterable in fantasy football for one season (2016) of his career.
Now he is 29-years-old, coming off a year on IR, and his best finish in the last four years in WR40. It is extremely unlikely that Williams will lead the Detroit Lions in receiving this season.
Amon-Ra St. Brown is also in the mix, but as a 4th-round rookie he isn’t statistically likely to have more than 35 receptions in 2021.

He has impressed before
Cephus last season at Wisconsin showcased his exceptional ability. Have a look at his college highlights from 2019 above. He excels at separation and plays with a blue-collar chugging motor. He looks like an NFL caliber player.
2021 Quintez Cephus fantasy football outlook
Based on volume alone, he will have flex appeal in 12-team leagues. The Lions are going to have to throw the ball to someone and with Williams injury history, that someone will most likely be Cephus.
