The Seattle Seahawks have made it clear this offseason that they are in “win now” mode after acquiring stud safety Jamal Adams for a pair of first rounders and a third rounder. With Russell Wilson in his prime, the Seahawks are placing all efforts to put a team around their quarterback that is capable of making another run at winning the Super Bowl.
Addressing an offensive line that allowed an NFL high 48 sacks last year was the top priority. Wilson already has two breakout wide receivers and a pair of productive running backs at his disposal. If newcomers Damien Lewis and BJ Finney can help Duane Brown anchor that line, Wilson will have an opportunity to be more productive while not having to constantly run for his life.
The difference between this year’s Seahawks and the Super Bowl winning team in 2013 is offensive firepower. The Legion of Boom is no more, and the team is built around scoring points. Russell Wilson is again predicted to finish as a top-5 fantasy QB in 2020. Let’s take a look at some of the players who might help him get there.

Seattle Seahawks 2020 Fantasy Football Overview: Players to watch
Stud – Tyler Lockett
Lockett looks to build on his 1,000-yard, eight touchdown performance in 2019. He is one of only three wide receivers to score more than 15 touchdowns with less than 200 targets in the last two seasons. Lockett also had the third highest catch rate in the league and has improved on his numbers every year. With a current ADP in the fifth round of PPR leagues, Lockett is being taken as WR21. As the clear WR1 in a high-powered offense, he is a steal and should be targeted as a top 15 WR.
Dud – Chris Carson
Chris Carson is currently being taken as RB15 right ahead of Todd Gurley and Leonard Fournette. He is expected to get the bulk of the team’s carries while Rashaad Penny recovers from injury. However, the Seahawks also brought in Carlos Hyde, a 1,000-yard rusher last year and who scored six touchdowns.
Hyde could end up as the goal line option, taking away from Carson’s projected TD total. The Seahawks have two emerging stars at wide receiver and have expressed that they will go more pass heavy in their offense for the 2020 season. Seattle also continues to be linked with Antonio Brown and Josh Gordon, another sign they may want to air it out in 2020. As talented as Carson is, he won’t have the same opportunities to shine in this loaded offense.
Sleeper – Greg Olsen
At 35-years old, expectations are not what they used to be for Greg Olsen. He is currently TE25 in PPR formats. Last year with Kyle Allen and Will Grier throwing him the ball, Olsen managed to gain nearly 600 yards on 52 receptions. Those aren’t traditionally dominate numbers, but it showed that an aging Olsen still has something left in the tank. Russell Wilson turned both Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister into viable options last year. If Olsen can stay healthy, he may have a chance to beat out both for the TE1 spot.

Wild Card – DK Metcalf
Freak athlete. Explosive. Lightning in a bottle. Call it what you want, Metcalf is exciting to watch. In his rookie season he managed 900 yards and seven touchdowns. His 15.5 yards per reception was sixth among wide receivers with at least 55 catches. His athleticism and explosive playmaking ability pairs well with a quarterback who thrives outside the pocket.
Metcalf could easily have a 1,000-yard season with double digit touchdowns if he can become more consistent and use that athleticism to his advantage.
Seattle Seahawks 2020 Fantasy Football Overview final thoughts
As mentioned earlier, the Seahawks will look to air the ball out more this season. As they make the shift from being a run heavy offense, the beneficiaries will be Seattle’s wide receivers and tight ends.
Another factor to consider is the fact that NFC West teams can all score in bunches. The 49ers, led by the genius Kyle Shanahan, have transformed into a rushing powerhouse. The Cardinals paired Kyler Murray with one of the best receivers in the game in DeAndre Hopkins. And after a down season, the Rams hope Sean McVay can get their offense back on track.
What does this mean for the Seahawks? It could see them play in more high scoring games, which is exciting if you are an owner of any Seattle Seahawk players during the 2020 fantasy football season.
