Every once in a while, you will stumble upon a fantasy sports take so ridiculous that you can’t help but think it is fake. This CBS Sports article based on a computer model at SportsLine claiming Davante Adams to be a 2023 fantasy football sleeper is a prime example of that. On no level does the proclamation make sense.
The Oakland Raiders wide receiver was WR3 in PPR leagues last season, second in 2021 and first in 2020. He has been one of the best fantasy players in football over the past three seasons. In what sense of the word can the pass catcher possibly be a sleeper?
The article doesn’t really say. It simply noted that Davante Adams is a 2023 fantasy football sleeper because its computer likes Jimmy Garoppolo being coached by Josh McDaniels and the Las Vegas Raiders signing of Jakobi Meyers.
It did not address how a player who will be drafted in the second round of most fantasy football drafts and has been one of the best at the position for years can qualify as a sleeper. We can only assume the SportsLine computer also rates Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts as quarterback sleepers this year.
What makes this truly awful is the fact SportsLine wants you to give them money for these insights. Apparently, a statistical analysis of good NFL players being good costs a lot to generate.
Seriously, SportsLine subscribers should demand refunds if Davante Adams being a 2023 fantasy football sleeper is the best their model can come up with. And shame on CBS Sports for accepting money from such a crap company to peddle their woefully inadequate services.
But wait, there’s more. In the same article, SportsLine brags about how it said 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel was dramatically overvalued last season. It was also the same exact advice you could find from us for free. And hey, we actually write our bad content instead of letting AI churn out some garbage for us.
