Of the past ten NFL MVPs, only one was a running back. And even then, it took a historic season from Adrian Peterson to make it happen. However, wagering on a good quarterback to have a great season and win MVP is a better proposition. Cam Newton, Matt Ryan and Lamar Jackson last season are all proof that this strategy can work.

Let’s take a look at the best NFL player prop bets for the 2020 season. These are wagers that all provide odds of +1000 or better to ensure a $10 bet rewards you handsomely.

3 of the best NFL player prop bets for the 2020 season

Josh Jacobs to lead the NFL in rushing yards

Odds: +1900 on FanDuel Sportsbook

We were turned on to this bet by Walter Football and it makes a ton of sense. We already know Jon Gruden wants to run the ball and the Las Vegas Raiders, well Oakland at the time, had the 11th most rushing attempts in 2019. The team returns one of the NFL’s better offensive lines per PFF which also helps this bet.

Josh Jacobs finished eighth in rushing yards last season despite playing through a fractured shoulder for half the season. At +1900, this is clearly one of the best NFL player prop bets for the 2020 season.

Bradley Chubb to win AP Comeback Player of the Year

Odds: +3300 on FanDuel Sportsbook

This is a prop bet we’ve already covered here at The Touchback, but it’s a good one. Long story short, it may be tough for quarterbacks to get up to speed during the truncated offseason. Denver Broncos defensive end Bradley Chubb will have no so such issues coming back from the partial ACL tear he suffered last season. If Chubb can get back to his rookie form, he’ll have a shot to win AP Comeback Player of the Year.

Cam Akers to win Offensive Rookie of the Year

Odds: +2000 on FanDuel Sportsbook

Since 2000, only three wide receivers have won Offensive Rookie of the Year with Odell Beckham Jr. being the last to do so in 2014. With Damien Williams opting to sit out this season, Kansas City running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has the easiest path to the award. Although a case could be made for Joe Burrow as well depending on how bullish you are about the Cincinnati Bengals.

However, don’t sleep on Cam Akers of the Los Angeles Rams at +2000. Todd Gurley has recorded 19, 21 and 14 touchdown seasons in the past three years and someone will need to pick up his workload. Darrell Henderson did not look like the guy in 2019 and why would the Rams draft Akers in the second round if they thought Malcom Brown could carry the load? If Akers comes in and is as good as advertised, he will be in the Offensive Rookie of the Year conversation at season’s end. And at +2000, the risk is worth it.
