Bold fantasy football starts for week 3
QB – Mitch Trubisky
This pick is less about the player and more about the opponent. Both Russell Wilson and Dax Prescott have obliterated an Atlanta Falcons defense that has given up 78 points over two games. Prescott recorded 450 passing yards and three rushing touchdowns last week with Wilson hanging 322 yards and four passing touchdowns on the dirty birds in the opener. Mitch Trubisky is super risky, but he could have a career day against Atlanta.
RB – Jeff Wilson Jr.
With the San Francisco 49ers not having Tevin Coleman or Raheem Mostert this week, Jerick McKinnon and Jeff Wilson Jr. will be the team’s running backs. Last season, Wilson had a pair of two touchdown games and has been solid when given a chance. He isn’t as dynamic as Mostert, but Wilson should be in line for 12+ carries against a New York Giants run defense that doesn’t look particularly strong.
WR – Golden Tate
Golden Tate will also be playing in that game. He has the potential to get some more work with Sterling Shepard and Saquon Barkley injured. When the former missed time last season, Tate had some nice showings, including 6/102/1, 6/80/0 and 8/85/0 games. Meanwhile, the 49ers defense will be without a lot of key pieces this week, so it isn’t as stout as usual.
TE – Logan Thomas
Logan Thomas is getting a solid number of targets each week which is a positive. Sure, he hasn’t done a lot with them. His 8/63/1 statline over two weeks doesn’t move the needle, but he is facing a Cleveland Browns defense that has been unable to stop tight ends so far. Mark Andrews hauled in a pair of touchdowns against them in the opener while C.J. Uzomah and Drew Sample combined for 11 catches, 87 yards and a score.
