Game 1
Maryland Terrapins at Rutgers Scarlet Knights
The pick: Maryland -2.5 (-105)
After starting 5-0, Maryland has struggled over its last six contests, going 1-5. That coincided with a step-up in competition with the team proving no match for Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State. The good news is that they face a Rutgers program that can’t seem to score to save its life. The Scarlet Knights have only mustered 24 points over its last three games.
What’s more, they gave up 22 points to Iowa. This bodes well for Maryland’s offense which has shown an ability to score against lesser sides.
Game 2
Utah State Aggies vs. New Mexico Lobos
The pick: New Mexico to win (+210)
Utah State enters its final regular season game with a myriad of injuries. The team’s top two quarterbacks, three leading running backs and multiple offensive line starters may not suit up for this matchup against New Mexico. That’s not ideal.
As for the Lobos, they aren’t very good but showed a noticeable improvement in an upset of Fresno State last week. Given everything happening with Utah State, New Mexico’s chances for another upset are promising.
Game 3
UConn Huskies at UMass Minutemen
The pick: UMass to win (+110)
Neither side is good, but you’d argue UMass has been better than UConn in 2023. The Minutemen have two FBS victories compared to the Huskies one. They are also a home underdog in a rivalry game. It’s worth a punt.
Game 4
Florida State Seminoles at Florida Gators
The pick: Florida to win (+225)
A backup quarterback on the road in a rivalry game? North Alabama is no Florida and Tate Rodemaker wasn’t exactly impressive against FCS competition. The Gators have been wildly inconsistent in 2023. However, a win gets them bowl eligible while dashing the Seminoles CFB Playoff hopes.
