Prior to kickoff, there was a lot going on. San Francisco was wondering if this was legendary Head Coach Bill Walsh’s last game. Meanwhile, Cincinnati had a major issue of its own. The night before Super Bowl XXIII, starting fullback Stanley Wilson was popped for using coke.

As the story goes, he was late for the final team meeting when a Bengals coach caught him in the bathroom dabbling in the nose clams. This was his third drug violation, and Wilson was suspended from the NFL for life.
