Pat McAfee on College Gameday

Pat McAfee on College Gameday is just awful. Let’s call his appearances on the show what they are, pandering to stupid people. It’s a joke that ESPN let go of Tom Rinaldi but will keep rolling out this guy.

If I wanted to hear some uninformed dude talk loudly and quickly while constantly interjecting his wild ranting with props and sound effects, I’d listen to drive time radio in the 1990s. This is McAfee’s schtick. He’s just being a shock jock which is totally unnecessary on College Gameday. It wasn’t so bad last season when he could play off the crowd, but if his role is hype man and there are no crowds, why is still a part of the show?

Notre Dame fans storm the field

Notre Dame fans storming the field after upsetting Clemson in week 10 were dumb because of the dangers of COVID-19, but let’s not open that can worms. Instead, the focus should be on what happened some six weeks later when the Tigers curbed stomped the Fighting Irish. Maybe that win at home in overtime against a backup quarterback wasn’t as great as you thought Notre Dame fans?

Dan Mullen cosplays Darth Vader

Despite what some people claim, Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators had a pretty terrible year. First, Mullen bitched about not having fans in the stands after losing to Texas A&M only for the team to have a massive COVID-19 outbreak the very next day. There was also the infamous loss to LSU featuring a thrown shoe and a crushing defeat in the Cotton Bowl.

However, dressing up as Darth Vader after beating Missouri on Halloween was the absolute worst. The game was marred by a halftime fight which saw Mullen have a weird breakdown that looked like a single dad freaking out because mom wouldn’t let him take their kid to watch an “R” rated movie.

Then after the game, he showed up to his press conference in one of those cheaply made Darth Vader costumes and did some lame impression. He also answered questions with the mask on. Mullen’s excuse for wearing the cosplay outfit was lame and let’s be real, there is no way he breaks it out if Florida loses. But it should have stayed in the closet altogether.

CBS loses SEC rights

While CBS will still broadcast SEC games through 2023, it is sad we found out this relationship is ending. Simply put, there is something inherently good about the CBS college football jingle playing during big time SEC games. It just felt like college football.

It’s only natural that ESPN had to go and ruin things by scooping up the rights. The alleged worldwide leader in sports spent US$3 billion to get the best SEC games for ten years starting in 2024. The announcement was more sad news in a year full of it.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee

Bill Hancock won’t stop until he ruins college football for everyone

Everything about the College Football Playoff Selection Committee is stupid. There work and methodology is hypocritical at best and now people are clamoring for the BCS to return. That’s right. The universally hated BCS was somehow better than the CFP because of how dumb the selection committee is.
