Who is Chase Edmonds’s handcuff? The chic RB0 target has a lot of sleeper hype heading into the 2022 fantasy football season. And while that is deserved, it remains to be seen if he can hold up over the course of 17 games. That means those drafting him should have a Plan B in place.
At the moment Chase Edmonds’s handcuff is Raheem Mostert, although the latter is unlikely to be a bellcow back given his injury history. The situation behind those two gets even murkier, especially when you add in new Miami Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel’s propensity to rotate his running backs.
Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed are listed third and fourth on the depth chart. Both have experience as starters in the NFL and will be in the mix even if no one knows just how much. It must be said, the former Washington Huskies teammates have underwhelmed for the most part and neither were particularly impressive during the preseason.

Is Chase Edmonds’s handcuff worth stashing?
Those who draft Edmonds may want to take a flier on Mostert. He has been dynamic when healthy, as can be seen by an impressive career 5.7 yards per carry average. No one knows just how the Dolphins running back situation will unfold and there is a real chance Mostert has some value if he can play.
On the other hand, Gaskin and Ahmed should remain on waivers even if both of the backs ahead of them on the depth chart happen to be out. Neither has shown the dynamism require to be anything more than a touchdown dependent option. Also, don’t be fooled by Gaskin’s inflated pass catching numbers from last season which were a byproduct of the team’s lack of receiving options.
One final note, this is a situation you should monitor throughout the year as none of these four players are guaranteed anything. Miami could easily bring someone in during the season should the run game fail to produce.
